Knight's Tale, AKnight’s Tale, A (2001)

IMDB rating: 6.40

Plot: Inspired by “The Canterbury Tales,” as well as the story of Ulrich von Lichtenstein, this is the story of William, a young squire with a gift for jousting. After his master dies suddenly, the squire hits the road with his cohorts Roland and Wat. On the journey, they stumble across an unknown writer, Chaucer. William, lacking a proper pedigree, convinces Chaucer to forge genealogy documents that will pass him off as a knight. With his newly-minted history in hand, the young man sets out to prove himself a worthy knight at the country’s jousting competition, and finds romance along the way.

What was the Knights appearance in the Canterbury Tales?
what did he look like and what kind of clothes did he wear?

The Knight is the person of highest social standing on the pilgrimage though you would never know
it from his modest manner or his clothes. He keeps his ferocity for crusaders’ battlefields where he
has distinguished himself over many years and over a wide geographical area. As the text says, he
is not "gay", that is, he is not showily dressed, but is still wearing the military padded coat stained
by the armor he has only recently taken off.

He was a very perfect gentle knight.
But for to tellen you of his array:
His horse was good; but he was not gay. (gay - well dressed)
Of fustian he weared a gipoun (fustian - coarse cloth; gipoun - tunic)
All besmotered with his habergeon, (besmotered - stained; habergeon - mail)
For he was late y-come from his voyage, (late - just come; voyage - journey)
And wente for to do his pilgrimage.
